Frequently Asked Questions
When are the centre operating hours?
Each centre varies slightly so it is best to check our centres for specific opening times, but our earliest centres open at 7am and close at 6pm Monday to Friday. You can drop off anytime whilst the centre is open, but we recommend you aim for regular drop off and pick up times as much as possible for consistency of routine for children.
What does the centre provide?
At Wonderschool, we provide all the essentials, such as cloth nappies, S-26 formula, bedding, and freshly prepared meals. We do ask you to please bring in a change of clothes as children can sometimes get wet and muddy or toileting accidents can occur. Please also bring a labelled drink bottle and sunhat every day.
What food do you provide at your centres?
Our on-site chef prepare delicious and nutritious meals and snacks for breakfast, morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea. Snacks and meals include lamb shawarma, vegetable yellow curry, vegan fruit cake and more. Check out a full-day sample menu or a week view sample menu. We can cater for children with allergies and cultural food preferences, let one of our staff know and you can pick up a form at your centre.
How do I say goodbye?
We know saying goodbye can be really difficult for children and families sometimes. At Wonderschool, we have a morning ritual that can help children and families settle into the day. This morning ritual helps children know exactly what is going to happen each day they are dropped off and it can support their ability to self-regulate and help make the transition between home and the centre smoother.
Do you provide regular updates on my child?
Communication with our families is a top priority at all our centres. Educators will often call families with updates on their child, especially if your family has just started care with us. We also highly value connection with our families, so we provide brief verbal updates at drop-off and pick-up to check-in with you and your child.
Why is early education important?
Research shows that the early years in a child’s life are crucial to their ongoing development. We know that children’s brains develop rapidly and that their environment and relationships significantly impact this development. Early education is responsive caregiving, fostering curiosity and building solid foundations for life. A child’s early experiences build their sense of self concept, self-regulation skills, emotional intelligence, cognitive development, resilience, and their mental and physical health. Positive and meaningful experiences in early childhood can have positive effects for a lifetime.
Why is a community for children important?
A community of people is important for us all. At Wonderschool, we believe in supporting children and their families holistically for the best outcomes for our children. Strong, healthy communities help safeguard children’s mental health and give them multiple adults to trust in their lives. Relationships are the cornerstone of our growth as humans. We want to ensure help, happiness, joy, and wonder are normal features of our Wonderschool community as we all grow together and support and empower children.
