Early Childhood Courses, Training and Education

Professional opportunities are available for Degree or Diploma trained and Certificate III Educators to commence with Wonderschool Early Learning Centres in Canberra and Sydney. As Wonderschool is growing, we are looking for educators who are creative and committed to the education and care sector.

To help you understand what course is right for you below is information about the industry recognised training, education and courses for early childhood education.

Early Childhood Teacher

Early Childhood Teachers are teachers who have completed university-level early childhood teaching bachelor degrees or ACECQA recognised bachelor degrees. Early Childhood Teachers use their knowledge and skills to lead teams of educators and drive the learning, development and wonder of children.

How long is a Bachelor of Education?

Wonderschool Early Childhood Teachers will ideally have completed a 4 year teaching degree specialising in Early Childhood (Birth to Five Years).

Diploma In Early Childhood Education and Care CHC50121

Diploma educators are educators who have completed their Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care. With a Diploma qualification, educators who have the drive, as well as the knowledge and skills, may become Team Leaders (leading a team of educators and children) or choose to be a Diploma qualified Assisting Educator.

All education and care services are required by the Education and Care National Regulations to ensure that 50% of all educators employed hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care.

How long does a Diploma normally take?

4 semesters full-time (approx. 25 hours per week) includes work-based delivery OR part-time equivalent plus approx. 8 hours per week of independent and self-directed learning to practise and develop your skills.

Certificate III In Early Childhood Education and Care CHC30121

Certificate III educators, often known as Assisting Educators or Team Members, are educators who have completed their Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. Certificate III educators will work with their team and Diploma qualified Team Leader or Early Childhood Teacher to support their learning, development, safety and wonder of children.

How long does a Cert III normally take?

2 semesters full-time (approx. 20 hours per week) OR part-time equivalent plus approx. 8 hours per week of independent and self-directed learning to practise and develop your skills.
