Wonderschool Throsby is ready to walk alongside your child through life’s earliest adventures
Wonderschool Red Hill
About our centre
We look forward to welcoming children aged 6 weeks – 5 years and their families seeking an exceptional learning environment with contemporary approaches to early childhood.
We know that children take what they learn from their earliest experiences, and that these experiences mold their futures.
Every day at Wonderschool is a chance for exploration, discovery, education, nurturing relationships, connecting with the environment, and being present in the moment. We encourage a sense of curiosity, intrigue and wonder through our learning experiences.
At Wonderschool Throsby, your children will discover, learn and play in a brand-new purpose-built early learning centre, with light-filled rooms, large open classrooms, and an expansive outdoor play area waiting to be discovered by little hands and big minds.
This is our brand-new early childhood service located in the Gungahlin suburb of Throsby in Canberra’s north. You and your child can find us right opposite the parkland on Kunapalari Street.
We understand your desire to stay connected with your child and keep up to date with their learning and progress. At Wonderschool, we don’t rely on technology to do this, with no apps or website updates on your child.
Our focus is on providing authentic, one-on-one assessments on your child every six months in line with The Early Years Framework (2009). Relationships are at the core of everything we do. We use moments during drop off and pick up to keep you informed of your child’s day.
We encourage ‘Morning Moments’ with your child – the chance to settle them in and join us for a light breakfast at Wonderschool Throsby before heading in different directions for the day.
Enriching learning experiences that help build communities – e.g. your child can go on local walks in the surrounding suburbs.
Parents are welcome to come in and share their own skills with the children – e.g. music education, cultural experiences and cooking sessions.
Sustainable classrooms – We are committed to do our part for the environment and teach the children about responsibility and accountability. We have recycling programs in place along with composting, worm farms, limiting food wastage and sourcing local ethically made products when we can.
Creative arts are promoted and supported – your child will have opportunities to express themselves through music, movement, painting and sculpture.
Landscaped gardens and areas where children can take risks, explore, learn about nature, grow and harvest produce and create memories.
All of our meals are made from scratch and cater to all children from our commercial kitchen. The menu is in keeping with Nutrition Australia and modified to meet our children’s dietary and cultural needs. We encourage families to share recipe ideas with us so we can tailor make our menu to meet the needs of our children and their families.

Wondering about our educators?
We are family-owned and operated, and understand the needs of families in our community. We also have a deep understanding of the importance of safe and secure relationships, continuity of care and promoting children to be active participants in their community.
Our Educators focus on teaching resilience, empathy, conflict resolution, social justice and self-efficacy.
Our Educators are inspired by the RIE Basic Principles of respect; nurturing an authentic child; trusting in the infant’s competence; sensitive observation; involving the child; creating a safe, challenging and predictable environment; time for uninterrupted play and freedom to explore; and consistency.
Our team of highly experienced and professional educators knows your child deserves an environment rich with beautiful aesthetics, meaningful practices, safe classrooms and ample opportunities for developing and learning.
Within our teams, we promote a culture rich in critical reflection – on our practices, approaches and how we engage with one another. We have open minds for learning new ways and techniques and provide our teams with ongoing training to keep them abreast of various approaches, development and new learnings in early childhood education and care.
